Little Explorers Picture Dictionary With Links

This picture dictionary, provided by Enchanted Learning Software, is
not only an entertaining children's resource with over 1,000 entries,
but also a hidden metasite, allowing children to explore the Internet
to learn more about the words they have chosen. Access is via letter
of the alphabet. Each entry contains a picture definition and a simple
word definition. Many of the entries are also linked to outside sites
that further develop the meaning of the word. The dictionary is available
with translations into four other languages (although these dictionaries
contain only picture definitions and links).

and US. A particularly informative section called Facts behind the News
offers well-organized short overviews and background pieces to help

Yahooligans is an offshoot of Yahoo and contains commercial advertisements.
Yahooligans is a well managed, easily searched list of child-friendly
web sites. The list includes both educational and entertainment sites.
The "School Bell" section is especially useful to students.
For example, if a child has been given an assignment on the Declaration
of Independence, he or she can click on the School Bell category, then
click on the Homework Answers category, then click on the History category,
then click on the U.S. Historical Documents category and then click
a link to the actual Declaration of Independence. This process is more
intuitive than it may sound. Some homework categories are not yet well
represented.
